Care for your layer

Hand wash or machine wash on a gentle/wool cycle in cold water (50-68°F). Use a mild wool-safe or pH-neutral detergent. Wash with similar colors. Don't bleach or use fabric softener.

Reshape while damp and lay flat to dry. Don't tumble dry, twist, or wring. Cool iron if needed. Store folded in a cool, dry space with airflow; avoid hanging.

The benefits

Why Alpaca wins

Alpacas en los Andes peruanos

Andes-adapted for changing temperatures

Alpacas evolved where days run warm and nights turn cold. Their semi-hollow fibers trap insulating air, helping you stay comfortable as the temperature changes.

Softness starts in the fiber

Alpaca’s smoother scales give the fabric a soft feel against your skin. Comfort comes from the fiber’s structure.

Wear more, wash less

Alpaca wool naturally resists odor. Air your layer between wears, then wash it when it needs cleaning. Less time doing laundry. More time outside.

Single origin

Peru, start to finish.

Arms of Andes is a family company with roots in the Peruvian Andes. “Arms” brings together the initials of four siblings. That connection to Peru shapes what we make and where we make it.

From fiber sourcing and yarn spinning to knitting and sewing, production stays in Peru. One country, with the people and knowledge behind your gear close together.

Very nice hoodie, but......

The fit and quality are excellent. It is a very comfortable hoodie, and the neck is the perfect size. There is no drape in front which is outstanding. The material is soft and cozy.

The "but" i still have some itching with the shirt, so have to wear an undershirt with it. A bit of a bummer, but I guess it will help to keep the shirt longer.

In a word, A-MAZING

Let me start off, this was my first experience with a 100% alpaca anything. I had used merino for a few years but wanted a breathable but warmer layer for when it got colder and so gave this a try. On the first day I had it, I wore it on a bike ride to the top of my local mountain, around 9k ft in in a gusty 35F wind and as a performance piece it kept me warm through the pump up, kept me from sweating too much since it's so breathable and when I summited I was comfortable standing the few minutes I needed to catch my breath. Then I wore it on a long travel day with a cotton undershirt. It kept me very warm on the plane and even though I did get hot (lightly sweaty) a few times in the lounge waiting for the next flight, at the end of the day my wife, who is very sensitive to odors, gave it a thorough sniff and said it basically smelled fresh and she couldn't smell me at all that day. I've rotated it throughout a two week trip and it's held up without needing a wash. It smells fresh and ready for a new day, everyday. I have purchased another already and plan to add many more pieces to my collection for both technical and casual journeys. Also the fit is great and I know I look good in any situation I may find myself in. Shipping was quite fast too, 3 business days.

420 hoodie

What can I say, it fits better than I expected. It’s perhaps the best hoodie I own. It can be worn as an outer or under a shirt/shirtjac. It forms to the body well and is perfect for the lower temps. I was quite comfortable at 17*degrees in this with a light base underneath and a shirt to block the wind. I got a good laugh while everyone else was bundled up like the Pillsbury Doughboy. I’m a fan of Arms of Andes and love the fact they use 100% alpaca.

3 month wait for delivery

The garment is very nice. Given its origin, it's reasonably priced. Ordered in September and advised it would appear in October, which turned into November. Finally arrived in December. As wonderful as the garment is, I won't be doing any business with them again

Perfect, as expected!

Expectations met! Warm and soft. Fits great and even a little stylish...for a hoodie (no front pocket helps the look).

Hi Korey,
Thank you for your thoughtful feedback! We're delighted to hear that the hoodie met your expectations, warm, soft, a great fit, and with just the right touch of style.
We're especially glad you appreciated the clean look without the front pocket,it's small details like that which can really elevate the design.
We truly appreciate your support and hope you continue to enjoy wearing it

Warm piece

I’m normally a small but ordered a medium based on the size chart. It’s a bit long, but otherwise a good fit. It’s very warm and I do find it a tad itchy, but I am more on the sensitive skin side so take that for what it’s worth. I suspect with more wear the fibers will settle and not irritate me as much. It’s a good base layer or to layer over a tshirt. I’ve stayed warm and not over heated on hikes and walks with the dog.

Almost perfect

Only thing I would change is adding some sort of design element or external tag for some sort of styling. Just personal preference, otherwise the sweater is perfect

I like it!

The Alpaca Wool Pullover Hoodie I purchased is really nice.
Not cheap, but, you know, not cheap!
I find myself wearing it a lot, and I sue the hood!

Excellent Product

Fits true to size, the hood is ample to cover my head, with enough drape over the forehead; Fabric quality is durable, soft, and the hems are well done. A worthy investment.

It really is better than Marino!

I’ve heard the recent hype around alpaca being better than Marino and I can confirm that it is indeed better. More comfortable, it is incredibly warm and hydrophobic, I put it under the sink and it shed a majority of the water. I’ve also worn this 6 or 7 times without washing and it has no odor yet. The only thing I have yet to test is durability. I will be wearing this on my next backpacking trip and plan on wearing my pack directly on this to test it. Also a Medium fits very nicely on my lanky arms.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! We're thrilled to hear that you're enjoying the comfort, warmth, and hydrophobic qualities of our alpaca products. It's great to know that it's holding up well after multiple wears without any odor. We appreciate your feedback on the fit and are excited to hear how it performs on your backpacking trip. Please keep us posted on the durability test – your insights are incredibly valuable to us. Happy adventuring!

Nice and soft

I love the hoodie but I was sent the wrong size. I ordered a large and I was sent a medium. I look forward to getting the correct size.

5 STARS!, 5 STARS!, 5 STARS!

To the folks at Arms of Andes. EXCELLENT!
Alpaca wool products. In many of my wool garments, and I have them from all over, a large size is about right. But your medium feels custom fit in your Alpaca Wool Pullover 300, just right for cool summer mornings or late evenings. Now your navy blue hoodie 400 is for sure the “Crème de la Creme” in the large fit. Just right for Fall and Winter days. Well worth the purchase - even if you have to wait!
Pass the word - GREAT ECO FRIENDLY PRODUCTS ! (Even my neighbors are caring for these Alpaca animals, but smaller acreage, not like the mountains of Peru!
