Care for your layer

Hand wash or machine wash on a gentle/wool cycle in cold water (50-68°F). Use a mild wool-safe or pH-neutral detergent. Wash with similar colors. Don't bleach or use fabric softener.

Reshape while damp and lay flat to dry. Don't tumble dry, twist, or wring. Cool iron if needed. Store folded in a cool, dry space with airflow; avoid hanging.

Naturally dyed colors can transfer with sweat or friction. Wear them with dark clothing or equipment, wash sparingly, and avoid citric acid, which can lighten the color.

Shipping & Returns

US orders over $200 ship free. Estimated US delivery is 7 to 10 business days, including preparation and transit. You'll receive a tracking number by email once your order ships. International rates are calculated at checkout; estimated delivery is 10 to 20 business days. Customs duties and import taxes are your responsibility.

Eligible unused, unwashed items may be returned within 15 days of delivery. What counts is that you start your request within those 15 days; how long the package then takes to reach us does not affect your refund. Original packaging isn't required. A $5 domestic return shipping fee applies unless Free Returns was purchased at checkout. International return shipping is paid by the customer, except for wrong or defective items under the policy.

The benefits

Why Alpaca wins

Alpacas en los Andes peruanos

Andes-adapted for changing temperatures

Alpacas evolved where days run warm and nights turn cold. Their semi-hollow fibers trap insulating air, helping you stay comfortable as the temperature changes.

Softness starts in the fiber

Alpaca’s smoother scales give the fabric a soft feel against your skin. Comfort comes from the fiber’s structure.

Wear more, wash less

Alpaca wool naturally resists odor. Air your layer between wears, then wash it when it needs cleaning. Less time doing laundry. More time outside.

Single origin

Peru, start to finish.

Arms of Andes is a family company with roots in the Peruvian Andes. “Arms” brings together the initials of four siblings. That connection to Peru shapes what we make and where we make it.

From fiber sourcing and yarn spinning to knitting and sewing, production stays in Peru. One country, with the people and knowledge behind your gear close together.

A near perfect garment

This hoody has already traveled with me to temperature extremes in Canada and in Georgia, USA as well as New York. I layer this with my down parka over a dress blouse and I'm fine in the frigid single digit (Fahrenheit) temperatures of Montreal. I threw it on as a outer layer in warmer climes and I'm comfortable all day, inside and outside, in planes and automobiles. The fabric is thinner than a typical sweatshirt hoodie, but the work it does to keep me warm and cool is anything but like a typical sweatshirt. It's soft yet structured, breathable yet warm. The price is worth every fiber of this garment. The thumb holes are perfect for keeping the sleeves inside my gloves which kept the bitter Canadian wind from creeping up my wrists.

The only thing I wish for are pockets, but I appreciate the streamlined silhouette without the pockets.

My husband also loves the one I bought him and we will definitely be getting some travel mileage out of these garments. They replace a few staples of travel clothing that we typically take with us, and we welcome any chance to streamline our travel packing. Thank you!!!

Keeps me warm on winter runs!

I bought this hoodie to keep me warm on my winter runs in Minnesota. I wanted a running jacket that wouldn’t just leave me encased in my own cold sweat, the way my synthetic jackets did. So far, so comfortable on runs down to 4F!
The only way this hoodie could be even better is if there were front pockets.
I ordered a size medium and am 5’8” tall, 35” full bust, 32” waist, and 42” low hip.

Awesome!

I was very reluctant to spend so much on a sweatshirt, but I’m glad I did! I love this sweatshirt so much!

Omgosh I am so in love!!

First off, let me just say that I have NEVER spent this much on anything let alone a hoodie, but after research and realizing that it will last me forever basically and is the best fabric on the planet... I decided to look for an alpaca Sweater. I wanted it to be humanly sourced if possible. And so I decided to go with this company. I received it in the mail (which I was a little worried since I had never tried it in and I spent $250, eek) but I am in love! I wear medium and it is true to size. Long sleeves which I like because I am tall and longer. Perfect thickness to keep me hella warm but still looks thin
