Care for your layer

Hand wash or machine wash on a gentle/wool cycle in cold water (50-68°F). Use a mild wool-safe or pH-neutral detergent. Wash with similar colors. Don't bleach or use fabric softener.

Reshape while damp and lay flat to dry. Don't tumble dry, twist, or wring. Cool iron if needed. Store folded in a cool, dry space with airflow; avoid hanging.

Naturally dyed colors can transfer with sweat or friction. Wear them with dark clothing or equipment, wash sparingly, and avoid citric acid, which can lighten the color.

Shipping & Returns

US orders over $200 ship free. Estimated US delivery is 7 to 10 business days, including preparation and transit. You'll receive a tracking number by email once your order ships. Eligible unused, unwashed items may be returned within 15 days of delivery. The benefits

Why Alpaca wins

Alpacas en los Andes peruanos

Andes-adapted for changing temperatures

Alpacas evolved where days run warm and nights turn cold. Their semi-hollow fibers trap insulating air, helping you stay comfortable as the temperature changes.

Softness starts in the fiber

Alpaca’s smoother scales give the fabric a soft feel against your skin. Comfort comes from the fiber’s structure.

Wear more, wash less

Alpaca wool naturally resists odor. Air your layer between wears, then wash it when it needs cleaning. Less time doing laundry. More time outside.

Single origin

Peru, start to finish.

Arms of Andes is a family company with roots in the Peruvian Andes. ā€œArmsā€ brings together the initials of four siblings. That connection to Peru shapes what we make and where we make it.

From fiber sourcing and yarn spinning to knitting and sewing, production stays in Peru. One country, with the people and knowledge behind your gear close together.

Great top. Recently hiked Mt. Rainier in mixed conditions- it went under the rain shell, by itself and took on a LOT of sweat from me. Embarrassingly, I balled it up and accidentally left it in my pack for a couple days. Pulled it out expecting the worst and no smell! Plus, I'm a sucker for the thumbholes.

So lovely

I will be using this sweater for all my outdoor work and hiking. I got my usual size and it fits great. I can use it alone or as a base layer since it’s fitted enough for that. But not tight. It’s so soft and I haven’t had to wash it yet. It still doesn’t smell after 7 ish uses. I just turn it inside out and hang it in an open area to let it air out between uses.

Hi Nicolette! Thank you for sharing your experience! We're thrilled to hear the sweater is working well for your outdoor activities. It's great to know it's staying fresh after multiple uses too! If you have any questions or need anything else, don't hesitate to reach out. Enjoy your adventures!

Amazing Quality!

I did so much research on different products before ordering this base layer. It’s one of the few brands that isn’t 50% polyester, it’s great pure material! It’s super warm and scent repelling. I usually struggle with BO lingering in my shirts after a day in the mountains but this one always smells great. Super flattering fit. Highly recommend as your base layer! I would size up one size.

Hi Rebekah!
Thank you for such an amazing review! We're so glad all your research paid off and that you chose our base layer. It’s great to hear that the pure material, warmth, and scent-repelling qualities are working perfectly for your adventures in the mountains.

We’re also happy to know you find the fit flattering and appreciate your tip about sizing up, it’s helpful for others considering a purchase. If there’s ever anything else we can do for you, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Happy adventuring, and thank you for recommending us!

Good product, but sizing is off

I had read a review that said Arms of Andes products run large/curvy. I am usually between a small and medium, so I sized down to a small; the 230 half-zip was tiny! It seemed to be of good quality, though.
