Free-Roaming Andean Alpacas

SINGLE ORIGIN SUPPLY CHAIN

Where Was This Wool Jacket Made?

We use natural local resources and a short transparent supply chain. Our mission is to teach you as much as possible about how clothes should be made. Together we can move the fashion industry towards a sustainable future.

Designed & Made in One Country: Peru

Contrary to industry norms, every step involved in making our clothes is done in only one country: Peru, the home of our family. Our production in Peru includes fiber sourcing, yarn spinning, fabric knitting, dyeing, finishing, and garment sewing.

From Peru, our clothes go straight to California or Europe on its journey to you.

Low Carbon Footprint

Manufacturing in one country allows us to greatly reduce our carbon footprint and freight shipping. This is a major step on our journey to becoming a carbon negative company.

Transparency & Traceability

We avoid industrial farming by working with co-op farmers in the Andes. Doing everything in Peru guarantees we know how the alpacas and the workers involved are being treated.

Love That Alpaca!

If there is a better fabric than alpaca, I don't know what it might be. This fabric simply checks all boxes, light weight, satisfies all temperatures, and looks great. My only suggestion for the alpaca jacket would be to add two pockets, one on each side. My wife is a seamstress so I will ask her to accomplish that plus reduce the large size somewhat. Not enough to be a medium size but just lessen the sleeve length a little. Then it will be perfect!

Love this sweater

I wear this sweater a lot, it's such a good weight and the sleeves are nice and long. Wonderful product.

Hi Lisa,
We're so happy to hear you're loving the sweater! 😊 The perfect weight and long sleeves make all the difference. Thanks for your support, and enjoy wearing it!

One of the best purchases I’ve ever made

I’ve never been so satisfied with something I’ve bought. I hate cold winters and having to wear bulky clothing, this is the warmest and lightest and most comfortable sweater I’ve ever owned. I don’t think the zipper is cheap or bad, it’s just simple. The sweater is so calming and feels like you’re being hugged all day. And it’s fine in warm rooms too. You don’t overheat because it regulates your temperature.

Hi Josh,
Wow! We're truly honored to hear this is the warmest, lightest, and most comfortable sweater you've ever owned. It’s amazing that it keeps you cozy without overheating—just as alpaca wool should! We appreciate your thoughtful feedback and are so happy you’re enjoying it.

Better zipper

I chose XL size to layer under this piece. XL is larger than a regular XL. The zipper is too small and doesn't work seamlessly. For the price of this garment, I would expect a much better zipper

Hi Al, Thank you for your feedback! We're really sorry to hear that the zipper isn't working as smoothly as you'd expect. We appreciate your thoughts on the sizing as well, and we'll take your comments into consideration for future improvements!

Warm sweater

It is a very warm sweater.. However the zipper could be more substantial for a sweater that costs this much.

Hi Jack!
Thanks for the feedback! We're glad you find the sweater warm. We understand your concern about the zipper, and we'll pass it along to our team for review. We appreciate your input and are always looking to improve!

Great Jacket.

This is a mid weight, 420 jacket. No pockets. No pit zips. It is slim, fits great and keeps me warm. It rolls up small to fit in your pack. The front zip opens up to vent when necessary. I wear this jacket with a shell when necessary. It's very smooth against my skin. I'm wearing it right now. It is my favorite.

Great

I love my Alpaca Wool top and my leggings they are a little itchy when you first put them on but after a while that goes away and they are very very warm Thanks Bob

Thank you for your feedback, Bob! We're so happy to hear that you love your Alpaca Wool top and leggings. It's great that the itchiness goes away after wearing them! Stay warm and comfy, and let us know if you need anything else!

Very warm

The 420 full-zip is extra warm. Compared to the 300 half-zip. The 420 is ideal as a mid-layer or to wear on top of the 300 for extra insulation and warm.

The 420 is thicker, noticeably heavier and warmer. Hence the higher price. You get what you pay for. My only criticism is that the sleeves were too long and needed turning back 2 inches. (The sleeve length of the 300 was fine).

Hi Richard! Thank you for sharing your feedback! We’re so glad to hear you’re enjoying the warmth and insulation of the 420 full-zip. It really is a great mid-layer or outer layer for extra warmth. We appreciate your note about the sleeve length, and we’ll definitely take that into account for future designs. It’s great to hear that the 300 half-zip worked well for you in terms of sleeve fit!

Thanks again for your insights, and please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need anything else.

I like the weight of it. Definitely warm and perfect that the collar protects the neck... Don't even need a scarf

Almost perfect

The overall feel and quality of the sweater are rather impressive, I was somewhat disappointed by the zipper, even though it's a YKK, they used such a small one that makes it quite difficult to get in place, and I have average/medium sized fingers.

beautiful jacket, great fit

Love this jacket in navy blue. So soft and warm and fits very well. Size medium on me, at 5'7" and 165 lbs. Zipper is a bit too shiny for my taste, but I love the jacket enough to not let it get in the way of keeping it.

Touble with sizing

Despite all of the trouble I've had, I still do recommend AoA assuming one maintains appropriate expectations.
Great product and company philosophy. Beware the sizing, however! I am 6 ft tall and about 165ish lb--pretty fit/average.
Every other shirt I own is a men's medium. AoA's medium 420 top was uncomfortably small--tight with sleeves far too short. I exchanged for a large, and that was almost right, but the sleeves were still tight and too short (and compounded by a tendency for the sleeves to ride up my arms but never fall back down, so I had to keep tugging them down).
I finally exchanged the L for an XL.
By the way...AoA was great about returns/exchanges and never gave me any trouble which is largely why I can still recommend them despite all my troubles. They were happy to cooperate with me the whole time.
Back to the XL I received. Remember: I'm normally a M. If anything, the sleeves are now too long, but I always prefer that over being too short. Most surprising, however is that while the torso of the XJ is way too baggy on me, the sleeves, while being long enough, are *still* tight around my arms. This is not well-proportioned for layering over other garments other than relatively thin base layers (I have some warmer base layers that feel a bit squeezed under these tight sleeves), and I dread to think of what someone with more muscular arms would have to deal with. Meanwhile, the neck on the XL is almost perfect (just a hair too big, but I bought this to layer over other garments, so the neck being just a little loose is ideal for me) while the M put a constant squeeze on my neck.
Oddly enough, both the sticker on the packaging AND the sewn-in tag in the garment I got when exchanging the L for an XL say "M" not "XL," so I have no idea what that is about.
I really do love what this company is doing, but the fit has been extremely disappointing. After the XL, I've decided to stop trying to find a solution with AoA, and I'm going to see if a local tailor can improve the fit of this XL by bringing the torso in a bit. Their sizing chart provides measurements, but those did not help as my measurements told me a medium would fit, but the reality wasn't even close.
