Sinful....

I pretty much only wear merino wool and my AMG alpaca wool hoodies. When AMG went out of business I lived in denial for a bit and then eventually decided to get serious at testing out Arms of Andes for their products. I knew they were becoming more popular and their name came up here and there amongst other hiker groups I'm in. I have pretty much tried out all the merino wool brands and have found out what they are best at. I wanted more alpaca items as each fiber has pros/cons. I decided to try these leggings, a tee, and for grins, a pair of undies. I thoroughly expected to be disappointed as not only am I picky but I am a hard body type to fit well. I'm short (five foot even) and curvy. Most outdoor and specialty clothing is meants for those who are taller and an athletic build (aka no booty!).
About these leggings only: When I put them on, they felt immediately sinful to wear. They were baby soft, smooth and perfectly thick enough to be comfortable without smothering your skin or being see-through. If you are middle aged and have not so perfect body parts, these do not showcase it all. They fit and feel like the best pajama pants you could ever own but are normal leggings you can wear out and about without shame. I was concerned that they would be a dust and hair magnet due to their softness and pill like crazy within 2 seconds due to their texture - I did not have that experience. I've worn them several times and they pick up no more hair or lint than any other natural fiber. Waistband is near the belly button on me (will be more natural rise below belly button for normal height people) and does not roll or bind. No pockets but these are so soft/stretchy material that the pocket would stretch and distort or create holes. I can deal with having one for the trade-offs I get. I have since bought 2 more pairs of pants I love them so much. I put in a lingerie bag and put in the wash, then hang to dry. No regrets here!!!!

Alpaca tights

These are soft and comfortable but noticeably itchy. I am hoping that this dissipates when washed. If it does, I would be encouraged to buy more.

Hi Carol,

Thanks for your feedback! Alpaca wool is naturally warm and breathable, but some people may find it a bit itchy at first. A gentle wash should help soften the fibers over time. We appreciate your support and hope you’ll love them more with wear!

Not as advertised

They claim to be "Not Itchy" because they use baby wool, but they are the most itchy pants I've ever put on. I don't recommend them. Buy Wool X instead. They are truly soft and not itchy, as they advertise.

Hi Kathryn,
Thank you for sharing your feedback! We’re sorry to hear that the pants didn’t meet your expectations in terms of comfort. Just to clarify, our products are made from Adult alpaca wool, not baby alpaca wool. We strive to provide high-quality, soft garments, but we understand that wool can be a bit different for everyone, and it may not always be the perfect fit for sensitive skin.

We appreciate your input and will take it into consideration.
