SINGLE ORIGIN SUPPLY CHAIN

Where Was This Sun Hoodie Made?

We use natural local resources and a short transparent supply chain. Our mission is to teach you as much as possible about how clothes should be made. Together we can move the fashion industry towards a sustainable future.

Designed & Made in One Country: Peru

Contrary to industry norms, every step involved in making our clothes is done in only one country: Peru, the home of our family. Our production in Peru includes fiber sourcing, yarn spinning, fabric knitting, dyeing, finishing, and garment sewing.

From Peru, our clothes go straight to California or Europe on its journey to you.

Low Carbon Footprint

Manufacturing in one country allows us to greatly reduce our carbon footprint and freight shipping. This is a major step on our journey to becoming a carbon negative company.

Transparency & Traceability

We avoid industrial farming by working with co-op farmers in the Andes. Doing everything in Peru guarantees we know how the alpacas and the workers involved are being treated.

Works great in 100• temperatures

Works great in 100• temperatures. Very durable.
Only issue is, that you have to hand wash it. I work outside in the sun and dirt. It is very durable and helps maintain a sustainable body temp, once wet.
I WOULD purchase again.
Side note, the first few days it will smell like a wet dog, but that goes away by the fourth hand wash.
Would recommend to friends and family.

Its great

I really like the sun hoody. I’ve worn it when it’s been 95 and 55 out and have been comfortable.

I live in this hoodie now

I’ve worn this several times in the last month. Along with just wearing it like a T-Shirt, I wore it on a cool morning walk, worn it all day on a Sunday, slept in it one night. All I have done for washing it is given it a short soak in cold water and put it on a towel to dry. It is thin, but still warm when it needs to be. Looking now at the thicker options for fall and winter.

One Of My Favorite Pieces Of Gear

I love the way alpaca regulates heat. The thinness allows it the breathe really well and yet can keep you warm enough when the clouds take over. Haven’t been able to test it in extremely hot/cold conditions. But what I have been able to test…it’s been the best sun hoodie I’ve ever used.

The hoodie itself is fine but

The hoodie is good I like it. My issue here is that I preordered this and the color I preordered it in over a year ago never was stocked due to [insert various excuses from support] here. I don’t really care about if the excuses were true or not my issue is that not only is the purple color I ordered still on the website but various other colors were added as well which are also not in stock. They shouldn’t be listed on the website if they are not available yet. A pre-order is fine but regular updates should be sent regarding this. I had to pester support for what little updates I got and got different answers from different people with the usual, “we can refund you or send you another color” I wanted a purple hoodie…not another color that is why I ordered a purple one in the first place. I finally settled for gray…which I am not too happy about but the quality is fine. I have had other issues (another thicker hoodie and a pair of underwear) with Arms of Andes products and overall support has been easy to work with. But is issues were quality issues with the garments. For the other issues sufficient solutions were reached in a timely manner.

Comfy

It's what I've been looking for. Light yet warm. I've used it with the 160 tee shirt and 160 long sleeve base layer at about 20 degrees F on a hike. It wasn't very windy. I'd need a shell for the wind. The XL fits well. I'm 5'11" & 200 lbs. The 3 layer set up breathes very well. I never felt sweaty. I do find the Alpaca wool to be a bit itchy. But Hey, I'm allergic to lots of things. It does seem to be warmer than merino. I must mention that getting the color I wanted was a royal pain you know where. I am happy Arms of the Andes makes 100% Alpaca wool clothing.

First grab item in my Outdoor Adventures!

Outstanding quality and feel of the Alpaca 100% weave. I’m so happy that it’s not woven with other man made materials. I ordered large size and am 5’11” tall and weigh 179 lbs, the fit is perfect. Color is a dark blue very easy to match with other clothing. I can’t wait to get it outdoors as Fall is nearly here in Arizona and this garment will be my main base layer for staying warm and dry and comfortable. Thank you Arms of Adnes.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re thrilled to hear the 100% alpaca weave, fit, and color all hit the mark for you. Sounds like it’s going to be the perfect base layer for your outdoor adventures this Fall in Arizona. Enjoy staying warm, dry, and comfortable, and thanks for choosing Arms of Andes!

Great for sun protection and perfect heat regulation

I loved this so much I bought a second.
I use it alone all summer long, and have found it to be good alone in the fall too.
