Free-Roaming Andean Alpacas

SINGLE ORIGIN SUPPLY CHAIN

Where Were These Boxers Made?

We use natural local resources and a short transparent supply chain. Our mission is to teach you as much as possible about how clothes should be made. Together we can move the fashion industry towards a sustainable future.

Designed & Made in One Country: Peru

Contrary to industry norms, every step involved in making our clothes is done in only one country: Peru, the home of our family. Our production in Peru includes fiber sourcing, yarn spinning, fabric knitting, dyeing, finishing, and garment sewing.

From Peru, our clothes go straight to California or Europe on its journey to you.

Low Carbon Footprint

Manufacturing in one country allows us to greatly reduce our carbon footprint and freight shipping. This is a major step on our journey to becoming a carbon negative company.

Transparency & Traceability

We avoid industrial farming by working with co-op farmers in the Andes. Doing everything in Peru guarantees we know how the alpacas and the workers involved are being treated.

Nice material, fits small

They fit small. I normally am a large and they were very tight. No returns on underwear.

Great Fabric - Bad design

Love the fabric, but the fit makes me sad. No support or much consideration for anatomy. Please give the design the same level of attention as the material.

Love these for backpacking/camping

Ultralight. Moisture wicking. No itching. Very little odor, especially relative to other fabrics. What more can one desire in a backpacking brief? Only two complaints are that the fabric is delicate and these are pricey for undies. Even after handwashing these, they lasted about 1 season only (around 20 hand washing sessions) before they started to develop thin spots and then holes. Wash very delicately and maybe they will last you longer.

Hi Sherpa, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re really glad to hear they worked well and were comfortable to wear on the trail. We also appreciate your honest feedback, comments like yours are very helpful. Thanks again for your support!

Not Durable Enough

I've bought quite a few wool (alpaca and sheep) underwear, and these had the worst durability. I wash all of them the same: cold water, low heat. Smartwool broke down after 31 washes, Woolly has survived 65 with no issues, but these fell apart after only 7 washes. The fabric under the crotch is single layer, and it developed multiple tears really quickly. I liked the shirt I got from here, but I don't believe their underwear is worth your time or money until they double up the fabric in weak areas.

Inseams are too short, Waistband uncomfortable, IMPOSSIBLE TO RETURN (Any purchase is final sale)

I ordered a 5 pack of these, opened the package and was disappointed to find that the inseams were about 1-2" which clearly would ride up and be uncomfortable with any type of movement, and the waist band is not seamless — it has a large vertical bar tack stitch which is more than 3/16" in thickness and presses into your right side.

I communicated my disappointment here and asked for a return and was denied several times despite my best efforts in communication because I OPENED THE PACKAGE to see the garment. The garments were in perfect unworn condition as they originally specified, but upon emailing them photos of the garments per their request, they replied stating that because the package was opened they were unreturnable.

I think this is a massive failure on their part that it is basically impossible to see the garment without it being final sale. I'm now out $200 and am trying to figure out what to do with the material because they're not wearable for an active person like myself. If I could upload photos of the garments I would just so other people wouldn't fall into this same pitfall.

The second you open the package it is impossible to return, so buyer be ware.

Perfect

They are so soft and feel so nice all day. My husband loves them.

Love them but just not the perfect fit for me

Ordered size M, which I wear in all other brands (6'1", 195 lbs, 34" waist). They are very comfortable and high quality, perform great for day to day activities (haven't tried hiking in them yet), and I love the nature dye color. Unfortunately they are just too short and tight in the trunk/crotch so not a perfect fit. Otherwise, I would highly recommend these.

Don’t Purchase

Material feels low quality and cheap. Fit and sizing is random. My boyfriend said these are uncomfortable and he’s the most easygoing person and dresser!

The entire website seems like a scam and knockoff. I tried to return the alpaca leggings I had purchased immediately after they arrived and 1 month later the company emailed to say there was “dirt on them” and they won’t accept my return. Huge regret purchasing from this company and won’t ever again.

We’re genuinely sorry to hear about your experience and disappointment. However, we’d like to clarify a few points to ensure accuracy. Our garments are made from 100% natural alpaca fiber, known for its exceptional softness and quality, never low-grade or synthetic materials. Regarding your return, we can confirm that items showing visible dirt or signs of wear cannot be accepted under our clearly stated return policy, as all returns must be in unused, clean, and resellable condition for hygiene reasons.

We completely understand your frustration, but we take product quality and transparency very seriously. Every detail about our materials and return policy is openly listed on our website.

Thank you for sharing your feedback, we’ll continue working hard to maintain the high standards our customers expect.

Softer than cashmere

I have cashmere and I have merino wool, both feel softer to me!

Hi Marty
Thank you for sharing your experience. We understand that alpaca can feel different compared to other fibers like cashmere or merino wool, and comfort can vary from person to person. We appreciate your feedback and are always looking for ways to improve.

Perfect underwear

They’re very soft and light and really good at moisture wicking. My other underwear is normally soaked after a day of work but these seem nearly dry after the same effort.

Hi Mark
Thank you so much for your comment! We're really glad to hear you're enjoying the garment and that it's performing well for you, especially when it comes to moisture wicking. Your feedback means a lot to us!

Nice but not for hiking

I find that I get itchy in Merino wool underwear so thought I would try the Alpaca boxer briefs as an alternative. Very soft and a good fit, without the itch. I wore them on a 4 day hike in Tasmania and found them comfortable and they didn't get too much stink. After the hike they had a 1cm hole in the crotch and the elastic had pulled apart a bit at a seam. I have worn them probably no more than 5 times since the hike and they are wearing though in the seat area and holes are appearing in any area where there is any friction.
The boxer briefs are a nice product but they need to be thicker and to be blended with something like Tencel or cotton to have enough strength to handle any activity such as hiking. At AUD$82 (inc. $18 freight to Aust.) they are not good value if they wear out so fast.

Hi Richard,
Thank you for your detailed feedback, we truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.
We’re very sorry to hear that the boxer briefs wore out so quickly. Our alpaca underwear is designed primarily for comfort and light use rather than high-impact or daily wear. Due to the delicate nature of alpaca fiber, it can become thinner and more fragile with repeated friction, especially in areas with constant movement.
We understand your concerns regarding durability and value, and we’ll be sure to pass your suggestions about fabric reinforcement and blend options along to our product team for consideration. Your input is incredibly valuable as we continue to improve our garments. Thank you again.

I'd prefer a boxer style

Soft, excellent light layer but a bit tight around legs & crotch due to design. I'd prefer and would buy boxer style underwear.

Hi Jeff! Thanks for the feedback, we hear you on the fit and will keep that in mind! And don’t forget to subscribe to our newsletter, we’ve got new products (including underwear styles!) coming soon!

Can't believe it is (alpaca) wool

I get quite an itch from good 'ol sheep's wool, not so much with Merino, and none at all with these alpaca underwear.
They fit great (usual underwear size), and eerily don't smell after several days use.
100% satisfied thus far with my 100% alpaca wool underwear.
Be aware, there are other places that sell alpaca wool apparel, but this is the one place that I found that sells 100% alpaca wool.

Hi Brent,
Thank you for your detailed and thoughtful review! We're so happy to hear that our 100% alpaca wool underwear has met your expectations.
It’s great to know that they’ve provided the comfort and fit you were looking for, especially with no irritation or odor even after extended wear. We truly believe in the benefits of pure alpaca wool, and it's wonderful to hear that you've noticed the difference.
We also appreciate you pointing out the uniqueness of our product 100% alpaca wool apparel can be hard to come by, and we’re proud to offer it.
Thank you again for your kind words and support.

<30 miles of hiking, completely disintegrated

I purchased two pairs of these briefs to wear on alternating days while hiking the Pacific Crest Trail and was excited for their softness and the natural fiber's ability to reduce odor. However, within 60 total miles, both pairs were completely useless.

The fabric rubbing between my legs eroded away almost immediately; I noticed the holes at Mile 30, so likely they didn't even last that long. By mile 60, both were completely useless.

Nothing on the company's website suggested the briefs would be ill suited for backpacking; in fact, in multiple places, Arms of Andes promotes the briefs as "The Perfect Underwear for Hiking", saying also that they are "designed for backpacking". Clearly not.

For further insult, Arms of Andes has determined that my case is not eligible for refund or other compensation. I'm not sure what conditions would have to exist for them to consider a product failure their own fault, but this seemed a cut-and-dry incident to me.

So now, I'm out $80 within a matter of days and have no refund with which to purchase replacement briefs. It's frustrating the product was so poorly suited for backpacking, but it's insulting that the company won't stand behind their product. Their customer service has been receptive to feedback but has stonewalled any requests for reimbursement.

Hi Jacob,
Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback!. We’re truly sorry to hear about your experience, and we completely understand how frustrating and disappointing this must have been, especially during such an important trip like hiking the Pacific Crest Trail.
While alpaca fiber has many incredible natural qualities, including softness, breathability, and odor resistance, we understand that it may not always perform as expected under intense friction and long-distance backpacking conditions. We sincerely regret that the briefs didn’t hold up the way you needed them to.
We also apologize for how the outcome of your customer service experience made you feel. That is never our intention.
We value your trust and support and truly wish this situation had gone differently.

Nice but thin

I like the feel and sizing but the part by the bottom middle seam (lower crotch) has worn away and holes have appeared after about 10 wears. Other pairs are holding up with the same use.

Hi Ethan,
Thank you for your feedback, and we're really sorry to hear about the issue with that item. That’s definitely not the experience we want you to have, especially when you’ve been enjoying the feel and fit overall.
We appreciate you letting us know, and we’ll be sure to pass this along to our product team.
Thanks again for your support and for helping us improve!

Elastic stretching out after wearing only a few days

Arrived Jan 29 and the elastic is already stretching out! Way too much money for the quality. The large runs small.

Hi there,

Thanks for your feedback! Since our garments are made from 100% Alpaca Wool, they are naturally delicate and can show signs of wear over time with frequent use. If you have any questions or need more information, feel free to reach out to us at embracenature@armsofandes.com—we're happy to help!

Buyer Beware

The size chart is not remotely correct so definitely size up at least one, maybe 2 sizes. They also won't accept returns, citing a return policy that is not displayed anywhere on the product page. Their customer service is also very poor, and will take days to get a response.

Hi Dan,

Thank you for your feedback! We really appreciate hearing from our customers—it helps us keep improving.

We do accept returns, but to maintain hygiene standards and stay environmentally conscious, we can only take back items in their original condition. Unlike many brands that discard returned garments, we do our best to reuse materials whenever possible, which is why we ask that items be unworn and unwashed.

Our return policy is always available on our website’s front page for easy reference. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to help. Thanks for your understanding!

Faulty stitches

I returned 1 pair due to faulty stitching. But the recipient loved the rest.

Hi Theresa,
We're sorry to hear about the stitching issue, but it's great to hear the rest of the items were a hit! Thank you for sharing your feedback, and we hope the recipient enjoys the rest of the gear.

So Comfortable

I had been looking for a replacement for the luxury boxers from Brooks Brothers, and I found them. Incredibly comfortable, to the point where you're unsure if you are wearing anything at all. They are much easier to pack and just a quick hand soak/wash when cleaning them up. Thank you so much for the fantastic quality and comfort.

Hi Thomas!
Thank you so much for your kind words! We're thrilled to hear that you found the perfect replacement and are enjoying the comfort and quality. We appreciate your support and hope you continue to love them!

Alpaca underwear

The quality of these underwear is quite good. The sizing is somewhat small. I usually wear medium but I ordered large. They fit but a little tighter then I like. When I order more I will get extra large.. Overall I am quite satisfied with this product

Ehhhh....

While I do like the look and feel of the garment, I did have a seam split the first time I wore them. Hole is large enough for 2 fingers to fit through. I pre-ordered the basement and expected shipping in October. In November I enquired about not having been received and was told they would ship shortly, and garment was shipped 2 weeks later. I like the product, but don't think I will repurchase from Arms of Andes.

Hi Phil,
Thank you so much for your feedback, and we sincerely apologize for the issue you experienced with the seam. We truly appreciate your support and your input, as it helps us improve our products and services.
