We use natural local resources and a short transparent supply chain. Our mission is to teach you as much as possible about how clothes should be made. Together we can move the fashion industry towards a sustainable future.

Designed & Made in One Country: Peru

Manufacturing in one country allows us to greatly reduce our carbon footprint and freight shipping. This is a major step on our journey to becoming a carbon negative company.

Transparency & Traceability

We avoid industrial farming by working with co-op farmers in the Andes. Doing everything in Peru guarantees we know how the alpacas and the workers involved are being treated.

100% Natural and Absolutely Wonderful!

100% natural fabrics are hard to come by. Most brands combine natural materials with stuff like Polyester, which defeats the purpose.

This is 100% Alpaca and amazing - no chemicals added, with natural or low-impact dyes.

Please support more brands like Arms of Andes.

Loved the long-sleeve

I wrote this to the Sacred Valley, Cusco, Machu Picchu. It was very soft and did a great job keeping me cool, and also keeping me warm. The temperature regulation on this shirt is really good. The fit also looks nice, I felt like it looked better on me than a typical wool or cotton long-sleeve shirt.

Ultralight and super warm

I found this garment to be very lightweight but yet very warm. Cool conditions. When it was warm outdoors it breathes very well and doesn't over heat you

Itchy

I was hoping for less itchy. Sort of defeats the purpose if I have wear a cotton tee underneath.

Excellent Quality

Already a fan of alpaca ultralight shirts, I appreciate the fine quality of this fine knit shirt. I suggest this shirt for casual wear or as a base layer. I’d like to get a small amount of matching yarn to repair a snag or a tear.

His name is Andy! lol.
He’s been swapping all his clothes out for natural fabrics.

Long sleeve T shirt

REALLY LIKE THE SHIRT. FITs WELL. AS advertised provides warmth (slight for this weight shirt), and wicks away sweat I do have a home grown, (USA grown) wool and manufactured,, merino shirt that offers the same characteristics as the Alpaca shirt. I can tell no difference in performance between the two shirts. They both do what the maker says than can do. The only difference I can tell is that the merino is slightly less expensive. I will continue to buy and use both materials.

Now PLEASE send me the 2nd ARMS T shirt that I ordered on 12-16 THAT HAS NOT APPEAARED Y E T !!!!

And provide a ph. no. It's much easier and quicker to solve such a minor problem by phone. JMW

Well made, but very itchy

I really wanted this to be the best wool long sleeve ever. The shirt is certainly well made and construction is fantastic, but it's way itchier than I was anticipating. Warmth is solid. I have a 100% merino wool long sleeve I purchased years ago from Costco and it isn't nearly as itchy. For the price point, doesn't make sense for me to purchase anymore. Like another reviewer mentioned, this is definitely way itchier than advertised.

Wonderful and stinky

I bought the Alpaca long sleeve baselayer shirt a while back and it does regulate heat well. The weave of the shirt is a little crinkly and good. It weighs almost nothing. All these things are quite good. But the smell of this garment is ungodly strong, even worse if you sweat or it gets wet, kind of like wet dog. There is hopefully some way to tame the smell or hopefully the smell becomes less after more washing - but be warned. The shirt is an excellent garment with a bad smell.

great top, terrible overseas delivery time

Beautiful material but very very very slow delivery to Australia

Very itchy

I do not have sensitive skin and have worn merino and merino blend products for years with no issues. This shirt however, itches so bad I cannot wear it next to skin. Descriptions regarding the alpaca fiber are misleading in that regard. The shirt itself fits well but is nothing special. I worry about it holding its form given the looseness of the wool knit. It would be a higher performing, more comfortable and less expensive product if the alpaca was blended with one of the 37.5 Technology nylon or polyester fibers.

Awesome sweater

It might be labeled as base layer top, but I use it as a sweater

Hi Thomas! Love that! Alpaca’s versatility makes it perfect as a base layer or a cozy sweater, great call!

Shirts

Love what I received. Hope they last better than last ones. Sized up seems to help. Just seems like better quality than last ones. Had problems with colors. This time only have dark ones.

Hi John,
Thank you so much for your feedback. We’re really happy to hear you’re loving what you received this time around!
Sizing up can definitely make a difference, and we're glad to know this batch feels like an improvement in quality. We also appreciate you sharing your past experience with the colors going with darker tones is often a great choice for longevity.

Alpaca is amazing!

I've been wearing this almost daily, as a base or on its own. The workmanship is flawless: smooth seams, sleeves long enough to reach my hands, the sizing is perfect (I went up a size for relaxed fit). I'll highly recommend Arms of the Andies.

Hi Steven,
Thank you for your kind words! We're so glad to hear that you're enjoying your piece daily and that the fit and craftsmanship are just right for you. We truly appreciate your recommendation and support!

Incredibly Comfortable

It's one of the most comfortable shirts I've ever worn. I hand-washed my shirt first in a very gentle soap, which makes all the difference for those who complain of itching. I wear my shirts daily to keep warm during these cold New England days and nights. Thank you, AofA, for such an incredible product!

Love it

Was very fortunate to win this along with matching leggings. Very comfy and really helped in 25 to 35 degree nights (in a sleeping bag too) Got mine a size up because I prefer a slightly looser fit. Compared to regular long-johns with thicker material these beat them by thousands of miles. Will cherish these for as long as humanly possible. Thank you :)

Hello Jeff,
What a great win! We’re so glad the set worked out perfectly for those chilly nights. It sounds like it’s a game-changer ! Thank you for sharing your experience, and we hope you enjoy them for many cozy nights ahead!

Slowly changing over my wardrobe

This is my second purchase from you and my 3rd is being delivered today. My only complaint are the eye rolls I get from family and friends when I get up on my alpaca soapbox. Keep up the good work, team. Looking forward to the new colors coming out later this year.

Great base layer for colder weather activities

I purchased the 160 ultralight after having experienced the benefits of alpaca socks. First use on a chilly kayak paddle with a sweatshirt on top. I did notice a little itching but not enough to be very uncomfortable. As sun came out nd I warmed up, i shed the outer shirt but never felt sweaty with this shirt wicking moisture very effectively. 2nd use I wore it on a bike ride in moderate temperature with light shirt on top to reduce wind chill. Worked great and again felt dry whole time even though I was perspiring. I am sold on performance and no odors. If they were less expensive I would certainly purchase a few more shirts.

Hi! Thank you so much for sharing your experience! It’s great to hear how well your 160 ultralight has performed, from chilly kayak paddles to bike rides. Alpaca is such a unique material, keeping you comfortable and dry while wicking away moisture, and the natural odor resistance is definitely a bonus! We understand the cost can be a consideration, but we're thrilled you find the performance worth it. Thanks again for your feedback, and we hope you enjoy many more adventures in your shirt!

Alpaca Itch

I received an Ultralight 160 long sleeved shirt 3 weeks ago. I’ve worn it for short periods of time around the house on 3 occasions.
The construction and fit are excellent.
Unfortunately, every time I put it on, I experience significant itching within a short period of time and I’m concluding that I won’t be able to wear the shirt.

I wish that I had paid more attention to the 15 day return policy!

Hi Ned!

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience with the Ultralight 160 long-sleeved shirt. I'm sorry to hear about the itching issue you've encountered. Even though our return policy is 15 days, we want you to be satisfied with your purchase.

Here are a few solutions that might help with the itching:

1. **Washing the Shirt:** Sometimes, washing the shirt a couple of times with a gentle detergent can help soften the fibers and reduce itching.

2. **Wearing a Base Layer:** You could try wearing a lightweight, breathable base layer underneath the shirt to create a barrier between your skin and the fabric.

3. **Fabric Softener:** Using a gentle fabric softener can also help make the fabric more comfortable against your skin.

We understand how frustrating this can be, and we’re here to help find a solution that works for you. If you continue to have issues, please let us know, and we can discuss further options.

Thank you for your understanding and for giving our product a try!

Ultralight 160 shirt

I love this shirt! I was looking for a sun protection shirt but really wanted to stay away from synthetic fibers. I appreciate that this is 100% alpaca. When I first tried it on it felt a bit scratchy but not much more than sheep’s wool. After the first wear though it became super soft and comfortable. I use it for summer running and it wicked sweat surprisingly well on top of keeping my body temp nice and cool in the humid New England Summers

Thank you for sharing your experience with our alpaca shirt! We're glad to hear that it has exceeded your expectations for sun protection and comfort. It's wonderful that the initial scratchiness softened after the first wear, making it perfect for your summer runs. Your feedback on its breathability and moisture-wicking properties is greatly appreciated. Enjoy your runs, and thank you for choosing our product!

Style, warmth, well made ... everything one wants in a modern day wool shirt

The prairie winds and long(ish) winters where I live (western Canada) makes wool clothing a near must. After pretty much ditching cotton, I practically live in wool (merino mainly). As such, I'm always on the lookout for new clothing and when I chanced upon Arms of Andes selling shirts during a little jaunt on the internet, it piqued my interest and I had to give it a try. I've not had the chance to wear it in the coldest of winter days as we've had a relatively mild winter, so I'll withhold my judgement on it's ability to keep me warm(er) than merino - although in truth it's held out fine and toasty in some -5C to -10C weather, so I suspect it would make a great base layer. Mainly, I have been wearing it a lot just as a casual shirt around the house and for some casual social outings and my opinion? Simple a fantastic shirt. But first, the 'bad'. Yes, there is a bit of a mild itchiness which would maybe seem more pronounced if you are new to wool, but for me, it's minor. I think I've just gotten use to it so it doesn't bother me and after multiple wears, it just becomes less and less noticeable. It's probably the only point that might give pause when deciding whether to purchase. But beyond that. The shirt is simply well made and looks fantastic. Color is great. The cut. Couple that with the fact that this will keep one toasty during cooler days, and my decision to recommend this shirt is a no brainer. Even the point that I'm not purchasing from a big box store and that this company seems legitimate when it comes to their 'raison d'etre' - only adds to the appeal. I'm a huge fan of wool and this is my first foray into the world of alpaca clothing (except for an alpaca beanie - which true to the claims I find is warmer than it's merino wool cousin). Sizing is always hit and miss with me when ordering from the internet, and especially clothing from out of country, but the size guide was fine. As stated, the style is more 'slim' (which I simply can't pull off with the dad bode - well, almost) and so I decided to size up as suggested and the shirt wears fine. Now that I got the sizing dialed in, only thing left is for me to save up for my next order - which will happen. And you? I wavered long enough for the both of us. Just make the purchase already!

Really comfy shirt

I recently gained interest with wool and wanted a nice quality alpaca wool shirt. I initially thought it mildly irritated my skin but after a wear or two it became one of my softest, favorite shirts. I am 5-8 180 and I can wear medium with some shirts but I had to get a large. I bought a second shirt as well. I strongly recommend!

Thank you so much for preference and lovely comment :D
